Justice sera-t-elle rendue au génie de Mozart ? C’est au public de décider dans ce divertissement musical.
Le diplomate danois Von Nissen veut convaincre le Conseil impérial des musiques et des réjouissances de la couronne d’Autriche de restaurer la gloire de Mozart, treize ans après sa mort.
Constanze, veuve de Wolfgang, accompagnée au piano par un élève du maître, Süssmayer, vient soutenir cette plaidoirie de sa voix de soprane. Pour défendre le génie de Mozart, quoi de mieux que sa propre musique ? Le verdict est... au public !
