Héritière ruinée, Blanche s’installe chez sa soeur Stella dans un quartier pauvre de La Nouvelle-Orléans. Délicate, méprisante, mythomane, Blanche semble habitée par des rêves étranges. Stella est mariée à Stanley Kowalski, un ouvrier, viril et brutal qui n’apprécie pas l’arrivée de cette étrangère dans sa vie. Entre thriller psychologique et comédie dramatique, ce huis-clos nous entraîne dans la vertigineuse folie de Blanche, poursuivie par ses démons et incapable de répondre à la violence de la société qui l’entoure...
